On December 18, 2013, the members of the Roundtable of Civil Society Organizations for Transparency in the Extractive Industries elected the three representatives for the Multiparty Committee of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI): Transparencia por Colombia, Universidad Externado de Colombia, Comit\u00e9 de Seguimiento a la Inversi\u00f3n de las Regal\u00edas (CSIR) Sucre.<\/p> \n \n
This election process was carried out through virtual voting and was supported by a scrutiny committee formed by Fundaci\u00f3n Avina and Gesti\u00f3n Ambiental Estrat\u00e9gica, both member organizations of the Mesa.(Communication Scrutiny Committee Designation of Civil Society representatives).<\/a> At the end of January 2014, the Civil Society Roundtable for Transparency in the Extractive Industries will hold a planning workshop. The first meeting of the EITI Multi-Party Committee will be held in February, with the participation of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the National Tax and Customs Directorate (DIAN), and the National Planning Department (DNP) representing the National Government, as well as Ecopetrol, the Large Scale Mining Sector and the Colombian Petroleum Association for the Private Sector.<\/p>

Prior to the designation of the representatives, the Civil Society Organizations Roundtable held workshops on EITI in Bogot\u00e1, Neiva, Monter\u00eda, Villavicencio and Barranquilla, in order to inform about the scope of this initiative, gather local expectations regarding the Initiative, identify the challenges and issues to be addressed in the EITI action plan, and obtain inputs to support the representation of civil society before the Multi-Party Committee.<\/p>
