What does the Roundtable do?
It is an initiative that emerged in November 2013 and brings together more than twenty social organizations and academic institutions, located in different parts of the country.
The objective of the Roundtable is to seek higher levels of transparency and access to public information in the Colombian extractive sector.
Activities of The Roundtable in EITI
The Roundtable is the civil society component of the EITI that elects the three representatives to the Colombian National Tripartite Committee (CTN), also called the Multi-Stakeholder Group (GMP).
In this instance, the representatives express the interests, needs and priority issues for civil society regarding the issues of transparency, access to information and citizen participation that are evaluated and dealt with in the standard.
At the 30th and 31st meetings of the Roundtable, proposals were collected for submission to the EITI Colombia Multi-stakeholder Group. These are expected to be taken into account in the National Action Plan - PAN- 2024-2027. The following document consolidates the proposals of the Roundtable
Civic space is defined as the context that enables civil society to play a role in the political, economic, and social life of our societies.
Do you know what has been happening with civic space within the framework of the extractive sector?
Take a look at the report we produced with Publish What You Pay and find out how these issues relate to the EITI
The EITI validation process is when the requirements of the standard are evaluated according to the established scores and the reality of the country.
